Top U.S. schools report lowest admission rates after test-optional policies

Many of the top U.S. schools, including several Ivy League universities, have reported their lowest admission rates after implementing test-optional policies during the pandemic.

It seems making the SAT/ACT optional in the admissions process resulted in a larger pool of applicants with students who would normally not apply to universities requiring a high SAT average, now doing so.

Harvard, for example, accepted a record-low 3.19 per cent of applicants to the Class of 2026. Yale saw its acceptance rate drop to 4.46% to the Class of 2026 from its largest ever pool of applicants with 50,015 applying.

Some schools like MIT have switched back to making admissions tests a requirement to help identify which students are better qualified.

Whether you’re still pondering on applying to a top Ivy League school with the increased competition, or trying to come up with a new admissions strategy, we’re here to help.
